N(i)² Joins the EMC Smarts Technology Alliance Program Adds the Power of Next-Generation Configuration Management to EMC Smarts Automated Analysis and Impact Assessment Engine
Montréal (Québec), Canada – December 19th, 2005-N(i)², a provider of IT infrastructure and IT services management solutions, today announced it has joined the EMC Smarts Technology Alliances Program (TAP). The program consists of a group of technology partners working to deliver tightly integrated software solutions that link into the EMC Smarts automated analysis and impact assessment engine.
As part of the relationship, N(i)² today unveiled the N(i)² CMDB for EMC Smarts, a next-generation configuration management database (CMDB) providing customers with end-to-end visibility across their layered IT infrastructures. The N(i)² CMDB is the foundation of the N(i)² integrated product line, offering unprecedented synergy between IT infrastructure library (ITIL)-based applications for consolidated operations and business management of IT infrastructures and IT services.
"Effective management of today's enterprise networks is a difficult task - one made more complex by the wide array of network devices and services operating in these environments," said Chris Gagahan, Senior Vice President, EMC Software. "To meet this challenge, companies require a highly scalable, end-to-end infrastructure and configuration management solution with the power to conduct enhanced fault, software, inventory and configuration management. Together, EMC Smarts and N(i)² provide that solution - enabling customers to reduce downtime, proactively avoid costly outages, reduce business risk and enhance their overall information lifecycle management strategies."
The N(i)² CMDB for Smarts provides valuable information concerning discoverable and non-discoverable resources such as lifecycle history, configurations, associations and manufacturer specifications. With the Smarts incident history added to the CMDB knowledgebase, customers can now leverage the most complete database of resource management information. The N(i)² CMDB efficiently conveys critical, multi-layered data in a seamlessly integrated interface that includes spatial and schematic views for locating resources and displaying associations. The solution provides IT services with resource knowledge to efficiently respond to incidents, reduce problem resolution time and build contingency plans against costly system failures.
"N(i)² has developed a CMDB platform from the ground up to support best-of-breed solutions," said Joseph Hatchuel, President and CEO of N(i)². "We are committed to delivering incremental customer value by leveraging the automated impact analysis of EMC Smarts, creating a premier knowledgebase for proactively managing and ensuring the absolute reliability of our customers' infrastructures."
About N(i)² N(i)² develops and markets new-generation technology for the operation and management of IT infrastructure and IT service management. The N(i)² Suite is an integrated product line that shares a common knowledge-based CMDB platform to offer unprecedented synergy between ITIL-based processes. N(i)² was founded in 2003 by the creators of the industry-leading physical inventory management software, N&SP™, aimed at the telecom service provider market. Lat45, the developer of N&SP, was acquired by MetaSolv Software Inc. in 2001.
