N(i)² Licenses EMC Smarts Network and Application Discovery for its Federated CMDB Solution Integration of EMC SMARTS and The N(i)² Suite enables delivery of a real-time discovery, application mapping, and process-based configuration management database for maintaining the entire IT information lifecycle.
Montréal (Québec), Canada - January 8th, 2007 - N(i)², a provider of IT infrastructure and IT service support solutions, today announced the company has entered into an OEM agreement with EMC to license EMC Smarts network and application discovery technology. Customers will benefit in two primary ways: First, by enabling customers to obtain a federated Configuration Management Database (CMDB) solution consisting of N(i)²'s rules-based reconciliation, configuration, change, and planning capabilities, while integrating discovery from EMC Smarts Service Assurance Manager (SAM) and application discovery from EMC Smarts Application Discovery Manager (ADM) software. Secondly, N(i)² will offer a bundled CMDB solution customized for mid-size deployments that integrates both the EMC Smarts Discovery Manager (SDM) and Application Discovery Manager as a complete package.
"By leveraging EMC's award winning Smarts Discovery Manager and Application Discovery Manager, N(i)² is able to deliver a powerful CMDB solution combining EMC's real-time discovery with N(i)²'s ITIL process automation," said Chris Gahagan, Senior Vice President, Resource Management, EMC Software. "This agreement unites EMC's real-time discovery of configuration, application and network topology with N(i)²'s asset discovery, infrastructure management and service support applications. The end result is a complete, federated configuration management platform for maintaining the entire IT information lifecycle."
By efficiently conveying relations between the infrastructure resources--both discoverable and non-discoverable-- and the delivered IT services, the N(i)² CMDB offers customers a representation of their IT environment during operations and business management. Customers can efficiently plan, design and deploy changes to their infrastructures and support services in complete alignment with their business objectives. The N(i)² CMDB Dashboard enables users to quantify business alignment with extensive analytics and reports based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in the areas of Finance, Customer Alignment and Delivery, Internal Management, Learning Growth, etc.
"EMC's industry-leading discovery and information management products, combined with N(i)²'s next-generation IT Infrastructure and IT support applications, allows us to deliver solutions that bring exceptional value to our clients," said Joseph Hatchuel, President and CEO of N(i)². "This allows us to meet our customers' demand for a consolidated IT information lifecycle solution to help improve IT alignment and business performance."
