Companies wanting to implement a CMDB should include N(i)² in their RFP list, Gartner research recommends
Montréal (Québec), Canada - June 21st, 2007 - N(i)², a provider of next generation technology for the operation and management of shared IT Infrastructures has been positioned in a research paper by Gartner Group entitled “IT Service View: CMDB Vendor Landscape, 2007” calling The N(i)² Suite a promising technology, and recommending CMDB customers put N(i)² on their RFP lists.
The research paper was written with the intention of dispelling hype and confusion around CMDB solutions, and to assist companies in selecting a vendor.
N(i)² developed a CMDB with the mission of giving IT organizations total visibility and control over all assets and dependencies to effectively manage their infrastructure and deliver end-to-end services that respond to business needs. The founders believe that the N(i)² CMDB offers greater flexibility to federate multi-vendor information because it was never intended to subscribe to any one silo of data, rather, to support all.
The Gartner report confirms these assertions, reporting that "Since N(i)² is not a service desk or asset management vendor, it architected its product from the bottom up to be scalable with relational data and object-oriented CMDB without being forced into a data model by any other previously developed products. It does not have a DM solution, so it has partnered with EMC and built integration to the Smarts Application Mapping tool, formerly nLayers. Customers that are not taking a suite-based vendor approach to CMDB should include N(i)² on their RFP lists."
The report also says that for any business seeking a CMDB, the critical point in the industry will be the ability to federate multiple data sources and notes that "…we believe that N(i)² offers promising technology that customers who require federation among multiple vendors' tools should consider N(i)² on their shortlists."
